November Deployment 2016

I had the honor of capturing soldiers and their families during their last hours together before shipping out. I've never witnessed anything like it before. There were laughs, tears, goodbye kisses, don't-wanna-let-you-go hugs, and long moments of silence. I was in awe of the strength shown by the dads, the moms, the brothers, the sisters, the wives, the sons, the daughters, the grandfathers, the grandmothers, the uncles, the aunts, and the friends that came out to support and send off the brave and courageous men they love.

Thank you will never be enough.

My hope is for you, the reader, that my images show the raw reality of this moment.

  1. Day 1 is complete, there are many more to go.

I ask the Lord for strength, not only for myself, but for the rest of the fine gentlemen I have the good luck to deploy with. I ask also for all of the loved ones we leave behind, especially for the loved ones we leave behind. We go because we love you, and so that you don't have to fight or live in fear. We fight for each other, we live for each other, and we protect each other. We are strong together. I pray our families are strong together.
